Originally, the eye colors of the dragons only differed by flight - one color for each of the eleven flights.

On June 8th 2018, an update brought about eye type variants. Each flight has different eye tints and styles that can appear randomly when a dragon is hatched or that can be bought and applied. Eye types are not inheritable like genes are.[1] Two parents with rare eye types have the same chance at rare-eyed or primal-eyed children as two common-eyed parents do.

Natural Eye Types[]

These eye types were originally only gotten randomly through breeding, but as of May 3rd, 2021 can also be applied manually through buyable Treasure Marketplace vials.

Odds[]

When breeding, any natural eye type is a possible outcome no matter what eye types the parents have. The approximate odds of breeding any one natural eye type are listed below.[2] Odds of the rare eye types may not be entirely accurate due to the low chances of obtaining one.

Eye Type Percentage
Common 45.80%
Uncommon 24.20%
Unusual 13.90%
Rare 9.10%
Bright 2.20%
Pastel 2.10%
Goat 1.10%
Faceted 0.70%
Primal 0.50%
Multi-Gaze 0.40%

Unnatural Eye Types[]

These eye types are bought through the Gem Marketplace, crafted, or otherwise obtained as items. They cannot be outcomes when breeding even if the parents have one.

Eye Types by Element[]

On many breeds, the eyes are too small as adults to differentiate easily between most eye types. Additionally, many breeds do not have visible sclerae as adults. The examples below are Spiral hatchlings to show off both iris and sclera coloration.

Release Dates[]

  • The original eight eye types were added on June 8th, 2018.
  • Dark Sclera was added on October 19th, 2018.[3]
  • Goat and Swirl were added on March 22nd, 2019.[4]
  • Innocent was added on September 30th, 2019.[5]
  • Bright and Pastel were added on May 3rd, 2021. Eye vials for all previous natural eye types were also added at this time.[6]

Trivia[]

  • Unusual Wind eyes have the same sclera color as the accent color of Radioactive.
  • The Dark Sclera eye type gives hatchling Mirrors pupils. Additionally, both the Goat and Innocent eye types give both Mirror adult and hatchling pupils, though they are very faint and small on the adults.
  • Goat was the first eye type to be totally unavailable to any dragon unless it is hatched with it, as upon release it did not have its own vial item nor the chance to be applied with the retired Vial of Scattersight item.
    • However, as of May 20th, 2019, with the release of Galore's Glorious Gifts, the Clanbound Vial of Horizontal Sight has been made available. Each player who collects the gift will have two vials to use on their own dragons. Clanbound items cannot be traded to other players.[7] Future natural eye types will also receive this treatment.
    • On May 3rd, 2021, the admins have decided to take the stance that "if you put enough time into it, you can pretty much craft your perfect dragon" and as such have made non-clanbound vials for all eye types available to be purchased so older dragons are no longer locked out of new natural eye types.[8]
