Appearance[]

The Butterfly gene gives a monarch butterfly-like pattern to a dragon's wings. It also gives a splash of an accent, sometimes wildly different depending on the color.

History[]

  • Butterfly was introduced and previewed alongside its primary counterpart, Petals, in the November 25th, 2015, volume of Words on the Wind.[1]
  • It was released on December 1st, 2015.[2]
  • Several art errors were corrected on June 14th, 2020.[3]
    • On Skydancers and Tundras the mane and tail tuft were using the coloring of the darkest outline of the gene.
    • On male Imperials stray lines were on the tail that matched the Petals gene
  • On June 21st, 2020, the erroneous dark mane color for Skydancers and Tundras were re-added due to the fact there was no clear majority between maned dragons (Imperials and Pearlcatchers had the correct coloring), the age of the gene, and players' attachment to the bugged coloring. Colors Blood, Sapphire, Hunter, Abyss, Sanguine, and Umber were slightly adjusted so they wouldn't be pure black like they were before.[4]

Trivia[]

  • Butterfly is the secondary counterpart to the Petals primary.
